Most companies will be happy to offer you subscription services to save your security footage. These subscriptions range from free to roughly 30 dollars per month for “unlimited recording” capabilities. This seems like a great deal until you realize that most of these companies have been breached and some of them have even tried to hide or their carelessness with your security footage, and personal information.

If you’re using these camera systems to monitor the outside of your home and have a unique password and email address for the camera system then your risk exposure may be considerably less, and I say, go ahead. But If I were to get a camera system I would opt for an NVR system that saves the data within my own network where I have control over the data and it is less likely to be compromised by hackers, corrupt employees and inept network engineers, and then hidden by corporate lawyers.
